Fire causes minor damage at apartment complex
[7/15/2008] - POINT PLEASANT - Residents who live in the Twin Rivers Tower Apartments complex were able to sleep in their own beds Sunday after being awakened by the fire alarm earlier that morning.
Around 7 a.m., members of the Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department responded to the apartment building for a small kitchen fire, according to Chief Jeremy Bryant. The fire apparently started in an oven.
Bryant said the building's sprinkler system activated and put out the fire quickly. link

Toddler ignites fire near Basalt

Strike halts construction at Olive 8, Bravern, 23 other projects
[7/2/2008] - About 500 union fire-sprinkler installers have gone on strike, affecting work on several of the largest construction projects in the Seattle area.
Tom Collins, a spokesman for Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices Local 699, said the union struck local fire-sprinkler contractors Tuesday after their contract expired at midnight.
