Fire crews quickly snuff out 2-alarm fire at Oregon City transfer station
[6/30/2008] - Clackamas Fire District #1 responded to a fire at 2001 Washington Street in Oregon City at 1:01 a.m. on Monday.
The fire was burning inside the South Metro Transfer Station dump pit. An alert security guard noticed the smoke and found a large fire burning in the pit. He quickly called 911.
First arriving crews were met with heavy black smoke pouring from the large warehouse-type building.

Sprinklers important safety tool
[6/30/2008] - In a recent City Council meeting, Lake Havasu City adopted the 2006 International Fire Code affecting the new construction of adult care homes or group homes by requiring the installation of fire sprinkler systems.
“The very young, the very old, and the mentally or physically challenged people are the biggest risk, since they just can’t get themselves out,” said Lake Havasu City Fire Inspector Tom Delzio.

Blaze strikes local facility
[6/30/2008] - Eleven residents of an assisted-living facility were displaced from their home Saturday by a structure fire.
No injuries were reported at the facility at 1425 Cedar Ave., which is owned by Fremont Home Care Inc.
The Cañon City Area Fire Protection District said lightning started the blaze, which was extinguished primarily by the automatic sprinkler system installed in the building.

Minor fire at Concord printing press causes delays, no damage
[6/28/2008] - A minor fire broke out Saturday night at the Concord plant where the Times is printed, but it was quickly contained by the sprinkler system.
Contra Costa County firefighters arrived shortly after 6 p.m. at the Times' three-story plant on Dean Lesher Drive, west of Port Chicago Highway. No one was hurt.
