Fayette County mandates sprinklers
[11/29/2007] - All new one- and two-family residential structures in Fayette County will be required to have fire sprinklers beginning April 1.
Fayette County commissioners voted 14-5 Tuesday night to make the sprinklers mandatory. The vote came a week after a number of commissioners, at a special meeting, voiced concerns about the mandate and voted against making a decision at that time.

Apartment fire cause may be determined next week

A Thanksgiving Day apartment fire that displaced 13 people appears to have started on an outdoor balcony, Capt. Chris Heil of the Green Bay Fire Department said.
Fire officials hope to officially determine the cause of the blaze at 301 Laverne Drive, Green Bay, by either later this week or early next week, Heil said. The eight-unit Brook Park Apartments did not have a sprinkler system and was not required to have one, he said.

One man missing after fire destroys adult group home in Japantown
[11/28/2007] - San Jose firefighters this morning are searching for a man who might have been trapped inside an adult group home in Japantown that was destroyed by an overnight fire.
"Our sense is this person was here," fire Capt. Craig Schwinge said. "We don't know if he got out or not."
Juan Contreras, 37, who lives in the building, also fears that a fellow resident he only knows as "Poncho" did not get out of the house.

Fire causes damage at Coleman plant
[11/26/2007] - The Wichita Fire Department responded to a fire at approximately 7:45 p.m. Sunday at the Coleman plant at 3600 S. Hydraulic.
The blaze appeared to have started after a piece of manufacturing equipment began leaking hydraulic fluid, Battalion Fire Chief Rob Hughes said.
