Burning towels cause evacuation at hotel
[10/7/2009] - SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Burning towels on a linen cart sent smoke through part of a La Jolla Village-area hotel Wednesday, forcing evacuations and leaving one person suffering from respiratory problems.

Incendiary device thrown through window at Pattonville Heights Middle
[10/7/2009] - A crew is cleaning up the orchestra room at Pattonville Heights Middle School today after somebody threw what police describe as an “incendiary device” through a window. The incident happened around 1:30 a.m., as that’s when school alarms went off and the fire department was notified. The device started a small fire, which was quickly put out by the room’s sprinkler system. link
New fire codes approved
[10/7/2009] - The City Council voted Tuesday to approve fire code amendments which would affect future building construction, but held off on some amendments they deemed unnecessary and potentially harmful for development in Walnut Creek.
A key requirement left out: A proposed amendment to outfit all future buildings and remodels over a certain size with sprinklers.

Sprinklers quickly put out cooking fire
[10/7/2009] - A sprinkler system extinguished a small cooking fire on the third floor of one of the Reserve Apartment buildings Tuesday night, Stillwater Fire Department Battalion Chief Rick Hauf said.
There were no injuries, he said.

Fire Destroys Moraga Office Complex
[10/7/2009] - MORAGA, Calif. (KCBS) -- Moraga firefighters are still trying to figure out what sparked a three-alarm blaze at small office complex in Moraga Tuesday evening.
The fire broke out in the 1100 block of Moraga Way just before 7 p.m.
Moraga Fire Marshall Michael Mentink says the blaze started in the upper floor, or attic of the two story building.
