Airport hangar fire causes $300,000 damage
[1/14/2009] - Fire investigators estimate damage at approximately $300,000 to a hangar that caught fire at the Glendale Municipal Airport last Saturday evening. Firefighters were called to the airport located at Glen Harbor Boulevard, just south of Glendale Avenue, shortly after 9 p.m. Jan. 3 for a reported fire in one of the hangars. Anne Arundel approves sprinklers in new homes
[1/7/2009] - Anne Arundel became the ninth county in Maryland to require all new houses to install sprinkler systems, resulting in a modest increase in housing prices and a slight decrease in homeowners' insurance. "I figure it's going to cost you $60 a month, and who wouldn't want to pay that for some piece of mind," said Councilman Ron Dillon, R-Pasadena, referring to the additional sprinkler cost of between $10,000 to $25,000 to all new single-family houses. Fire starts at Merced nursing home
